Aena is participating in this project, within the framework of the State Innovation Agency's 2023 Call for Public-Private Collaboration Project Grants. A non-invasive, easy-to-install system capable of efficiently collecting, transforming and storing kinetic energy generated during aircraft ground operations at airports. This objective will be achieved through the installation of new generation piezoelectric materials on the airport pavement, taking advantage of the spaces available under the recessed aeronautical lights, without requiring civil works or pavement removal, and thus preserving the integrity of the runways and taxiways.

Aena is participating in this project, within the framework of the 2023 Call for Aid for Public-Private Collaboration Projects of the State Innovation Agency, whose objective is to develop an automatic, low-cost system for assessing the condition of airport pavements that can be installed in any type of vehicle already in the airport management’s possession. This way, the system will enable the automatic detection, categorisation, classification and quantification of the deterioration of airport pavements by means of its installation in a conventional vehicle owned by the infrastructure management (e.g. in airfield maintenance vehicles or Runway and Apron Service vehicles).
