Sustainable mobility | Corporative | Aena

Nowadays airports need an accessibility and mobility infrastructure which can improve ease of access and reduce the time spent travelling to or from cities and industrial centres, and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by current modes of transport.

To this end, Aena is actively developing and working on two areas of action: sustainable mobility and mobility plans.

Sustainable mobility is oriented to the modes of transport, processes and infrastructure which mitigate the emissions produced by transport, as well as reducing travel time to and from centres of activity in cities and their surroundings, in order to create more sustainable and accessible airports. It is also working on Mobility Plans which will form part of the access and transport infrastructure of cities and airports.

Moreover, with regard to the mobility of Aena employees within its airports, it is progressively replacing its own fleet of cars with cleaner and more efficient vehicles and expanding the network of charging points for electric vehicles, so that Aena's goal is to have 100% sustainable vehicles in its fleet and more than 3,000 charging points on the air and land side by 2026.

In this regard, it should be noted that the project for the SUPPLY OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND ASSOCIATED RECHARGE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR OPERATION AT 19 AIRPORTS in the network for 2022 has been awarded the incentive programme for light vehicle fleet electrification projects (MOVES FLEETS Programme), within the framework of the IDAE's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, "Financed by the European Union" - Next Generation Funds, with a total amount of aid granted of €194,900.
