The platform #PorElClima, led by ECODES and the Ministry for Ecologic Transition and Demographic Challenge, has recognised the Aena Photovoltaic project as one of the most outstanding 101 business initiatives of actions for climate due to its commitment and contribution in the face of the climate emergency. Community formed by society, NGOs, companies and administrations aware of the urgent need to act against climate change. We have been a member of it since 2017, with the commitment to reduce our GHG emissions.

Forética is the benchmark organisation for sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain. Its mission is to integrate social, environmental and good governance aspects into companies’ and organisations’ management strategy. It currently has more than 200 members.

The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by ensuring that companies set science-based emission reduction targets. In 2024, Aena received validation for its short- and longterm targets within the Business Ambition for 1.5°C.

The European Climate Pact is an EU-wide initiative, an invitation to take part in climate action, share knowledge, learn about climate change, develop, apply and extend solutions as an open and inclusive initiative in order to build a greener Europe.

Launched by the French Presidency to the EU, it is the first-ever public-private initiative supporting European aviation’s goal to reach net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. This is also the first joint initiative of its kind globally, aligning all EU stakeholders on the principles and actions needed to decarbonise and transform Europe’s aviation sector, representing a true breakthrough.

The Clean Skies for Tomorrow Coalition provides a crucial global mechanism so that senior executives and public leaders, via the aviation value chain and beyond, come together in a transition to sustainable aviation fuels as a significant, proactive route for industry to achieve carbon neutral flights.

The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance brings together industry, authorities, civil society and other stakeholders to discuss the large-scale use of clean hydrogen technologies and what ithis requires: the hydrogen value chain, main obstacles for large-scale deployment of clean hydrogen and proposal of mitigation measures.

An initiative backed by companies, NGOs, scientists, academics and citizens in general that, in resolving the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, beseeches the government lay the foundations for transformation on a more sustainable and robust economy based on three fundamental pillars: digitalisation, decarbonisation and resilience.

An international, non-profit organization that provides environmental ratings to companies that integrate climate change as a strategic factor. Aena achieved the highest rating of A in 2019, 2020, and 2022, above the industry average, highlighting the value of our climate change strategy and the actions taken in this area. In the 2024 report for the 2023 fiscal year, the Aena Group received an A- rating for its performance in combating climate change.

An alliance led by key players in the aeronautical business sector, universities, and NGOs. Its goals include leading the decarbonisation of the air transport sector by exploring all possible solutions and technologies, while boosting Spain’s industrial capacity to provide disruptive technologies. It also promotes public-private collaboration to foster R&D&I and accelerate the development of lowcarbon aircraft. Approved in April 2023, Aena is a member of its steering committee.

The EU initiative aims to prepare for the entry into service of electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft, ensuring that air transport contributes to the goal of climate neutrality by 2050. Aena is represented through ACI Europe (leading Working Group 3 on Airports) and participates directly in Working Group 4 on Aviation Regulation, Certification and Standardization.

The EU initiative aims to boost the production and supply of renewable and low-carbon fuels in the aviation and maritime sectors. It is a key measure to support the FuelEU Maritime and RefuelEU Aviation regulations. Aena is a member of the alliance and participates as an expert in Working Group 2 of the alliance on production pathways and the value chain in the aviation sector.

An alliance, promoted by the Spanish Aerospace Technology Platform, aimed at fostering the use of hydrogen and supporting the objectives of the hydrogen roadmap, the PERTE, and the EU Green Deal. Aena actively participates in the alliance and leads the Airports Working Group.
