Aena International Board of Directors

Before joining Aena he held various executive positions in the public and private sector.

He began his professional career as an economic analysis consultant at Solchaga, Recio & Asociados, where he worked from September 1999 to May 2004.

In the public business sector, he was General Manager for the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) from July 2004 to May 2010, and CEO for Ingeniería de Sistemas para la Defensa de España (ISDEFE) from May 2010 to February 2012.

He was Chairman of the European Space Agency Board (ESA) from July 2008 to June 2010.

In the private sector, his roles include Banco Sabadell Director of Equity and Prudential Management from June 2016 to October 2017, and Director of Prudential Regulation and Public Policy from November 2017 to July 2018.

Furthermore, he was a member of parliament and spokesman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Government of Catalonia from December 2012 to October 2015.

In academia, he was an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Carlos III University in Madrid.

He has been Chairman and CEO of the Board of Directors of Aena SME, S.A. since 16 July 2018..

Currently, he is Executive Vice Chairman at Aena SME, S.A., Managing Director at Aena Internacional, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aeroportos do Nordeste do Brasil S.A. (ANB) and Chairman of Bloco de Onze Aeroportos do Brasil S.A. (BOAB). As Executive Vice Chairman, he manages the Airports business unit, the Commercial and Real Estate business unit, the Innovation, Sustainability and Client Experience Directorate, the IT and Digitalisation Directorate and Aena’s international subsidiaries.

He is also Executive Committee Member of ACI EUROPE (Airport Council International), Member of the Board of ACI World and Member of the Madrid Territorial Council of IESE, Alumni Association.

He has held a number of management positions since joining Aena in 1991: Executive Board Member since 2020, Managing Director -Airports (2017- Feb.2013) Managing Director - Aena (2014-2017), Managing Director- Aena Aeropuertos S.A (2011-2014) and Director of Spanish Airports (2004-2011). He was also previously Managing Director - Air Navigation Services and Director of Corporate Development.

He has been a member of the Boards of Directors of different aeronautical infrastructure companies: Centros Logísticos Aeroportuarios S.A. (CLASA), Ingeniería y Economía del Transporte S.A. (INECO), London Luton Airport Operations Limited (LLAOL), of the mexican companies, Aeropuertos Mexicanos del Pacífico SA de CV(AMP) and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico S.A.P.I. de CV (GAP), of the colombian companies, Aeropuertos del Caribe, S.A. (ACSA), Sociedad Aeroportuaria de la Costa, S.A. (SACSA) and Aerocali, S.A. He has also been President of ACI EUROPE.

Prior to joining Aena, he worked for the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, the Spanish Civil Aviation Authorities, the Paris-based Eurocontrol Experimental Centre and Indra.

She joined Aena in 1996 in the commercial and marketing department of Palma de Mallorca airport. Since then she has held the positions of head of the Commercial Division of Tenerife South airport, Director of Almeria airport, head of the Commercial Network and Commercial Services Management Division, Director of Commercial Development and Director of Commercial Services.

She has been the Commercial and Real Estate Managing Director (previously, Deregulated Business) at Aena S.M.E., S.A. since March 2019.

He has fifteen year of experience in the public sector at the General State Administration, in the areas of construction projects and works, asset and property management, and cultural management and dissemination.

Since June 2018, he has been the general director of Housing and Land at the Ministry of for Transport, Mobility and Urban Development, where he was diputy director por Architecture and Construction since 2012.

From November 2008 to May 2012, he held the position of Deputy Director General of Works of the Infrastructure and Equipment Management of the Ministry of Culture, directing the technical area of ​​the Management.

From November 2008 to May 2012, he was deputy general director for works at the Infrastructure and Facilities Management of the Ministry of Culture, directing technical management affairs.

From June 2006 to November 2008, he was the asset management department manager at the Ministry of Public Administrations, coordinating the technical department of the subdirectorate.

From June 2001 to July 2006, he was a senior technician at the Subdirectorate General for Government Construction Coordination, a part of the Directorate General for State Assets of the Ministry of Finance.

From February 1997 to 2001, he worked in the private sector at an architecture studio.

For 12 years he has combined his work in the public sector with teaching and speaking at different seminars, courses and conferences.

From 25 October 2016 to 29 October 2020 he was director of Aena, S.M.E., S.A.

Before joining Aena, he worked as a consultant for Andersen Consulting (Accenture).

He joined Aena in 1997 and has since held various management positions both at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and within the company’s central services.

As of February 2012 he is the Operations, Security and Services Manager at Aena, guaranteeing the correct running of airport operations, supervision of comprehensive security plans, the running of the of the Network Management Centre and airport services.

He is currently the Head of Operations and Airport Network.

At Aena he began developing his career in the Airport Safety Department, as Head of the Regulation and Technical departments, As part of his role in security, he coordinated Aena´s airport security international activities and was a member of the following committees: ECAC’s (European Civil Aviation Conference) Security Technical Task Force (1993-2002); ECAC’s Security Working Group (1994-2002); ACI’s (Airports Council International) Aviation Security Group (1997-2001) and the National Civil Aviation Security Committee.

In 2002 he was named Head of Group II of the Airport Coordination Division, which included 10 airports of the Aena network.

From 2005 to 2021, he has been in charge of International Relations Division, Airport marketing and Relations with Aena airlines, and a member of the ACI European Politics Committee (Airports Council International).

During this latest stage he has managed Aena´s international institutional activity, relations with airlines and promoting the development of air routes in the Aena airports´ network.

From December 2014 until December 2015, he was the general secretary of the AECFA, the Spanish Association for Slot Coordination and Facilitation.

He is presently the Head of Aeronautical Data and Markets of Aena S.M.E., S.A.

Aena’s Director of Airport Planning and Regulatory Control from April 2021 to February 2023. She was Aena’s Director of Planning and the Environment between 2019 and 2021, Director of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport between 2013 and 2019, and, previously, director of the airports of Valladolid and Ibiza.

She joined Aena in 2002 in the Planning Directorate, where she worked on analysis and forecasting for airport infrastructures, as well as supply and demand prospecting and analysis. She began her career in the private sector, working for engineering consultancies, on studies and projects relating to different airport infrastructure assets in Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany.

She was a board member of ACI World between 2016 and 2022.She is also a board member of Aena Internacional.

Her professional career spans a period of almost 20 years, five of which in the private sector and the rest in the public sector.

At present, she is Executive Advisor to the Office of the State Secretary for Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda. She is also working with the Office of Mobility Strategy on development of the new Safe, Sustainable and Connected Mobility Strategy. In the past, her work has focused on consultancy services for port and coastal infrastructures and, above all, the performance of various technical and administrative duties in the field of road infrastructures at the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda.

Graduate in Business Administration and Law ICADE (Comillas Pontifical University, Madrid) and Executive MBA, IESE (University of Navarra) He has extensive experience in the financial area developed in Spanish and international companies and banks. In addition, he has participated in the definition, acquisition, financing and management of airport infrastructures internationally.

Since joining Aena in October 2022, he has held the position of Chief Financial Officer and subsequently, since November 2023, due to the illness and subsequent death of José Leo Vizcaíno, he has held the position of Economics and Finance Director on an interim basis.

Ignacio has spent most of his professional career at Ferrovial. From 2020 until he joined Aena, he held the positions of Director of Asset Management and Chief Financial Officer of Ferrovial Airports, and was a director at Heathrow and at Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports, among others. Previously, he was CEO of Great Hall Partners in the United States (2017-2020) and Project Director in Corporate Development (2012-2017).

Moreover, he has assumed various responsibilities over the course of more than ten years in the area of Investment Banking and Capital Markets with institutions such as Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC and Banco Popular. Ignacio began his professional career as an associate lawyer at Linklaters.

During his time at Aena, he has contributed to the refinancing of the company's balance sheet through operations in the capital market, in the banking market and with the European Investment Bank. In particular, he led the successful issuance of Aena's inaugural bond. Finally, he has actively participated in the definition and revision of the current Aena Strategic Plan.

As a State's Attorney since 2006, he has held advisory positions in a number of Spanish ministries, such as Education, Social Policy and Sport, Labour and Immigration and Health, Social Policy and Equality.

In the area of contentious work, he was assigned to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Barcelona, he has acted as the coordinator of the Civil and Mercantile Department of the Office of the State’s Attorney, acting before ordinary and arbitration Courts, as well as State’s Attorney-Head of the Insolvency Area.

He has also coordinated the legal assistance agreements for several public state agencies, such as the Sociedad Estatal de Gestión Inmobiliaria del Patrimonio (asset management); Aguas de las Cuencas de España (water management); the Official Credit Institute; the Sociedad Estatal de Infraestructuras de Transporte Terrestre (land transport infrastructures); Fundación CIEN and the CIBERNED Public Consortium.

In the public sector, he has held the position of Technical Secretary General at the Ministry of Employment and Social Security (2012-2018). On 21 December 2021, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Board for Aena S.M.E., S.A. Director of Legal an Corporate Affairs of Aena from July 1, 2022.

He joined Aena in January 2019 as Finance Director of Aena Group, taking over as Director of Aena International in may 2023. Emilio began his career at Grupo Ferrovial in the Investor Relations department and went on to work as an equity research analyst at Credit Agricole, Fortis Bank and Kepler, being responsible for the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Since 2013, he has held various financial management positions, including managing the IPO process of ONO prior to its acquisition by Vodafone, and CFO of the Iberian Peninsula business of the listed company Adveo. Emilio brings more than 20 years of financial experience in the infrastructure sector, with positions in both corporate environments (Ferrovial, ONO and Aena) and banking institutions (Crédit Agricole, Fortis Bank).
